Academic Support Center

The Academic Support Center provides assistance for students with special learning needs and those who are looking for academic support so they can take full advantage of the University’s unique educational experience. Services include:

  • Special Needs: MIU recognizes that qualified students with diagnosed or identified disabilities are entitled to benefit from the educational programs of the University if reasonable accommodations can be arranged. Both online and on-campus students should contact the Director of Academic Support about their needs before their first semester or at any time thereafter.  Those with physical disabilities will find that all major classrooms and dining facilities are accessible, as are the major social sites and residence halls.
  • Learning Assistance:  support is available for students who want to improve their skills in goal setting, time management, active listening, note taking, reading strategies, and preparing for and taking exams. Work-study positions are available for students who wish to become academic tutors. In addition, students may volunteer to serve as new student buddies.
