Graduation 2026 Schedule of Events
Cap and Gown Pick up
Dates: Either Wednesday, June 17th or Thursday, June 18th
Times: Anytime between 10:00 am – 4:30 pm either day
Location: Dreier Building, Lower Level, Room 12
IMPORTANT DETAILS:
- During the pick-up, you will also receive essential information about the graduation ceremony and other events. If you are unable to come to pick up your cap and gown either of the above days, please email graduation@miu.edu to arrange an alternative pick-up day/time.
NOTE: We offer alternate cap-and-gown pickup times only in exceptional cases for out-of-state students who are unable to attend the regularly scheduled pickup meetings. In such cases, students may arrange a separate pickup time with our office on Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. or Friday morning from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. All students must attend the mandatory rehearsal on Friday at 1:00 p.m. in the Men’s Dome. Students arriving late to town should report to the rehearsal first and then, if necessary, come to the Enrollment Center between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to pick up their cap and gown. The graduation banquet begins at 6:15 p.m.
Rehearsal – MANDATORY
Date: Friday, June 19th
Time: 1:00 pm-3:00 pm
Location: The Men’s Dome on the MIU campus
IMPORTANT DETAILS: Attendance at the rehearsal is mandatory for all graduating students. During the rehearsal, we will go over the procession, seating arrangements, and other important details about the ceremony. In the past, when students have not attended researsal, it causes confusion or delays on the day of the ceremony. This has a pronounced impact on everyone’s experience.
Banquet
Date: Friday, June 19th
Time: 6:15 pm -7:45p
Location: Annapurna Dining Hall (inside the Argiro Building on the top floor) on the MIU campus.
IMPORTANT DETAILS:
- You will receive your banquet tickets at the cap and gown meetings (3 tickets per student: 1 for the student + 2 for their guests).
- Children 5 and under are welcome to attend the banquet free of charge and DO NOT need a ticket.
Awards Ceremony
Date: Friday, June 19th
Time: 7:45p-10p
Location: Dalby Hall (inside the Argiro Building) on the MIU campus
IMPORTANT DETAILS: Your Graduation Banquest ticket will be your ticket to get in the award ceremony. The award ceremony is only open to students receiving awards, their guests and other invited faculty and staff.
Class Picture
Date: Saturday, June 20th
Time: 10:00 am – 10:30 am
Location: Amphitheater in front of the Argiro Building (weather permitting). If there’s inclement weather, it will be moved to the Argiro lobby.
IMPORTANT DETAILS: We are using a professional photographer for the the Class picture. They will also be taking photos at the commencement. Digital proofs and (5×7) prints are available for sale. The photos will be emailed 4-5 days after graduation.
Commencement CEREMONY
Date: Saturday, June 20th
Time: 1:00 pm-4:00 pm
Location: The Men’s Dome on the MIU campus
IMPORTANT DETAILS:
- Students are required to arrive at least an hour before commencement to avoid any delays.
- Students and other attendees should each be seated in their designated location by 12:30 pm at the latest! The doors will be closed by 12:30 pm (30 minutes before the ceremony starts).
- Please wear your graduation gown, cap, and any other academic regalia required for the ceremony.

- The commencement and the awards ceremony will also be broadcast live for those unable to attend in person: Link will be shared closer to the commencement.
- There is NO limit to the number guests you can bring to Commencement.
- No tickets are needed to attend Commencement. It is a free event open to the public.
GRADUATION BALL 2026

Date: Saturday, June 20th
Time: 8:00 pm-12:00 am
Location: Fairfield Arts and Conventions Center
Required for entry: Student ID number and formal attire
IMPORTANT DETAILS:
- Join your MIU community for a night of music, dancing, and celebration at Student Activities’ biggest event of the year.
- This event is open to all currently enrolled students, including online students, graduating students, and those continuing in their programs; students should dress their best! Each student is allowed to bring ONE non-student guest.
- You must register your guest here: Guest Registration
- This a free event and there will be a free shuttle running continuously between Argiro and the venue from 8 pm – 12 am
- This event will feature:
- Baraka Quartet: Traditional Algerian songs and originals by Amine Kouider, blending reggae, flamenco, and folk classical influences.
- DJs & late-night music: DJ Gilberto + a surprise late-night DJ
- Immersive sound and lighting: A full-scale production experience with live lighting, visuals, and high-energy sound
- Photo opportunities: Professional photo booth and props to capture the night
- Catering and drinks: Gourmet dishes and appetizers from Cafe Dodici, and fresh-fruit mocktails from Vishwa Shanti Cafe
- Students should stay posted for the sign up for the upcoming student shopping trip to Iowa City.

By attending the weekend celebrations, you acknowledge and agree that photography, audio recording, and video recording may occur. These recordings may be used for Maharishi International University News. Also, Parents/Guardians: please keep a close eye on your children.
