Request For Evidence (RFE)
Request for Evidence (RFE)
A Request for Evidence (RFE) is a formal notice issued by USCIS when additional documentation or information is needed to make a decision on an immigration application.
For OPT, STEM OPT, or Change of Status applications, an RFE may be issued if:
- Required documents (like the I-20, employer letter, or proof of enrollment) are missing or incomplete
- There are discrepancies in dates, status history, or employment details
- USCIS needs more evidence to confirm eligibility for the requested benefit
Important Notice: Applicants must respond to the RFE by the deadline provided. Failure to do so may result in denial of the application.
Due to the high volume of RFE requests, it will take a minimum of two weeks from the date we receive all your documents to complete your process. Failure to submit the required documents promptly will result in delays that could negatively affect your application.
- Please be advised that you are required to collect all your course syllabi, as these are often requested by USCIS during the OPT or STEM OPT application process. It is your responsibility to secure any missing syllabi by downloading them from Sakai, Canvas or by contacting your faculty members directly. Make sure the dates and faculty names listed on the syllabi are accurate and match the information submitted on your course registration.
